This is the composition I finally decided upon. Now it's just a matter of waiting for the light.

And this pulls it back even farther. While I like the curves made by the cracks in the mud, the composition is getting away from what I liked to begin with.

Aha! I like the way the shapes create converting lines pointing to the peak in the background. Now it's time to get out the tripod and start fine tuning.
